 Letter from the President

IAMCP-US Community –

While there are lots of fantastic things going on throughout our communities all across the US, I am dedicating my letter this month to supporting our members, friends and families who have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

After a brief emergency call with impacted members earlier this week, we have established the IAMCP Helps – Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Please visit the new page on our website here - http://www.iamcp-us.org/?page=HurricaneHarvey to donate to the cause and/or submit needs that you have or have become aware of for others. Below is a brief synopsis put together by Jeff Shuey (thank you, Jeff!) – please post, re-post, and share widely:

Tell A Friend! Help a Partner! Help those in Need!

A special thank you to Rudy Rodriguez for rallying the troops and spearheading our efforts on this! Thanks to Jeff Shuey for creating the survey, much of the content and starting the social campaign to reach out to the broader community! Thanks to Eric Rabinowitz and Amanda Knapp for donating their time to put the banner together for us! Thanks to Jon Rivers, Ebbah Tokwe and Lea Duvel for setting up our donation and request for help page! And so many others I’m sure I’ve missed!

As devastating as Harvey has been for so many people, I’m encouraged by the resiliency of people in the wake of the storm and humbled by the generosity and concern already displayed by our community to step up and help!

Thank you for spreading the word! Thank you for pulling together to help others in need! Now more than ever, I’m grateful to be part of such an amazing community!

For Toni Townes-Whitley, CVP of Industry, her bold was Love Fiercely, Live Fearlessly, and Have Forgiveness. Bold people stand out from the group. Bold people lead the workforce and industry. WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND THE U.S.?

ARIZONA - Jennifer Didier, Chapter President

Our first greater Phoenix area IAMCP & IAMCP WIT chapter meeting was held on August 15, followed by a happy hour. We kicked off FY18 by gaining more insight into strategies and changes announced at Inspire 2017, such as Microsoft’s huge reorganization and strategy shift in their sales and marketing areas, changing the game for all types of partners. Our special guest presenters included Sharon Collins and Justin Slagle, Partner Channel Development Managers at Microsoft. Thanks to Robert Half for sponsoring! We had over 40 people in attendance.

ATLANTA - Ej Harof, Chapter President

The Atlanta IAMCP & WIT chapter’s August meeting, ‘Summer Synergy in the Sunset,’ was well-attended by local and global companies over a four-hour period. It was our 5th successful meeting of the year. We provided the latest updates from the 2017 Microsoft Inspire Conference and Microsoft Community Connections, and discussed emerging collaborative technologies such as Enterprise Mobility Device Management, Internet of Things (IOT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). IAMCP Atlanta’s vision is to foster collaboration among technology partners to grow their businesses as they provide expertise for small, mid-size and enterprise businesses. The response from various members is that this is happening as it’s supposed to.

Strategically, the Atlanta chapter announced the launch of the IAMCP Partner Profile Portfolio, a collective strategic sales and marketing advantage to partners and Microsoft contacts when engaged with a customer or prospect. The portfolio includes this information on ALL member companies and the collective value they deliver to solve a company's needs, including what they have generated for Microsoft strategically and financially.

We want to thank Robert Half Technology for sponsoring our meeting. He discussed RHT’s combination of cutting-edge recruiting technology and matching algorithms, with best-in-class customer service, and how they have been helping hiring managers for decades. Robert Half also plans to participate in Atlanta board meetings and to actively assist with the growth of the chapter!

The date for our next meeting in October hasn’t been set yet, but it may be held at the spectacular new Microsoft at Avalon building in Alpharetta, GA.

CHICAGO - John Nicolau, Chapter President

Join the Chicagoland IAMCP and WIT communities on September 18 as we host Brent Combest, Microsoft’s General Manager, One Commercial Partner - West Region, presenting on Partner Profitability.

Thriving in the new digital economy requires channel partners to adapt their approach to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving market. Customer desires have changed and, with that, so have the keys to maximizing profitability. This is top of mind for many partners. A question that’s often asked is: How do I craft my strategy to not only capitalize on this opportunity, but do so in way that increases my bottom line and sets me up well for a cash event should I decide to sell or retire?

During this presentation, Brent will share insights, perspectives and stories of successful partners from around the world. Brent will summarize these in four key areas that make up the hyper-successful Modern Partner. This session will challenge you to think about how your three to five-year plan can incorporate these and how you can begin to execute against them in the near term. Note: You must RSVP for the meeting to be able to clear security!

CLEVELAND - Ray Paganini, Chapter President

Cleveland IAMCP’s August meeting included an Inspire de-briefing, where Kristin Friend from Microsoft reviewed the recent changes at Microsoft related to the Partner Program. A representative from JumpStart, a local investment funding organization, also presented.

DALLAS/FORT WORTH - Rudy Rodriguez, Chapter President

At IAMCP DFW’s first meeting of the new Microsoft year on August 24th, we had an action-packed agenda and lunch/networking session designed to help our members’ businesses. We covered the highlights from Inspire and continued the marketing seminars we've conducted during 2017. This month’s session covered content marketing automation with speaker Jared Mossman, Director Channel Development – InXero.

Session Abstract:
The most effective B2B marketers are increasing their digital marketing budgets, but to be effective you’ll need to gain critical insights and metrics to justify the efforts. What good is content and digital presence if it doesn’t help you sell more? Come learn how automating marketing processes can help you measure the impact of your marketing and social selling efforts so that you can focus on the programs that work and strengthen partnerships with vendors that provide you with co-marketing funds.

NEW JERSEY - Jeff Goldstein, Chapter President

The IAMCP NJ July 2017 meeting was a particularly special event. Tom Ireland (of the IAMCP NJ board) wrote a great wrap-up of the meeting:

This was one of the best and most well attended meetings of the year!  A special thanks to our host Gabi Haberfeld and Infoaxis, one of the Tri-state area’s largest IT outsourcing and cloud service providers serving small and mid-size businesses for over 15 years.

The highlight of the meeting was our special keynote speaker, Congressman Josh Gottheimer, 5th district of New Jersey, presenting our annual IAMCP NJ Partner of the Year Award (2017) to Rocky Pavicevic / Slick Data, a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Partner, and Gwen Blakemore / Queue Associates, a Microsoft Dynamics Gold Partner.  The congressman spoke for about 30 minutes and fielded a wide range of questions.  He is focused on tax reform and infrastructure as his two top priorities, and is part of a bi-partisan caucus of 40 members to discuss issues that both parties can agree with.

Welcome to our newest member, Vince Menzione, founder & CEO of CloudWave Partners, which helps technology organizations build profitable relationships and execute effective partner strategies.  Check out his latest podcast.

Your continued support and participation makes the New Jersey IAMCP chapter one the largest and most active chapters in the country.  Thank you.

RALEIGH - Dave Poole, Chapter President

The Raleigh-Triangle area IAMCP chapter is off and running. We have a fully-functioning board and have had two meetings and two social events through the summer with good turnout. We have great assistance from Robert Half Technologies and have formed a great relationship there. We are receiving commitments from Microsoft reps at the RTP office. Our last meeting was held there and our next one will be as well.

Our chapter board is as follows:

  • President – Dave Poole
  • Vice President – Greg Leighton
  • Treasurer – Anthony Fernandez
  • Secretary – Michael Phelps

Also, Lauren Roberti has stepped up to head the Membership committee and is doing a great job.

We have consistently had board meetings as well as membership meetings since April 2017 and are looking forward to a membership drive in October!

ST. LOUIS - Marty OBlack, Chapter President

The St. Louis IAMCP August chapter meeting was held on the last day of July. In addition to an Inspire recap, we had a presentation by Danny Cook about how the new SMC organization and Microsoft One Commercial Partner will focus on enabling partner success and growth for all partners. Microsoft is moving out of the current office location in St. Louis and future meetings will move to other locations for now. The new Microsoft St. Louis office and technology center is under construction in the Cortex technology district of St. Louis. We look forward to their grand opening in 2018. TAMPA - Jon Rivers, Chapter President

The Tampa chapter was able to get a sneak peek into how to use data and technology to solve business and science problems at the August chapter meeting. Buck Woody, who works on the Microsoft Machine Learning and Data Science Team; is a popular speaker at many conferences around the world; and is the author of over 650 articles and seven books on databases and Machine Learning technologies, is based locally, so they were lucky to find a night when they could snag him to present to us.

We would like to welcome our new members: Kevin McNamee of FrankCrum Staffing, Sandra Crawford of Enghouse Interactive and Aaron Moore of Kinect Consulting!
