Letter from the President

IAMCP-US Community –

Can you believe Inspire kicks off in 7 weeks?! Are you ready for a fantastic week of Connecting, Learning and Growing? Our Community is preparing a fantastic slate of events that you don’t want to miss!

A huge shout out and thank you to some of the leaders who are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure Inspire is the best event possible:

  • Deb Pfundstein is our East Region Chair and is leading the charge on all things Inspire. This is an enormous undertaking and Deb is doing an amazing job! Thanks, Deb, for all your hard work pulling everything and everyone together!!
  • Erik Frantzen and Jeff Goldstein – Erik is in charge of sponsorships for the US and Jeff is in charge of sponsorships for the rest of the world! Together, this dynamic duo has built partnerships for the IAMCP with some of the industry leaders to help bring us great content, speakers, funding, events, meals, education, special pricing, and more! Thank you both for the amazing job you’ve done with our partners!!

There are so many other people who are working hard to make this a great event for us, it’s hard to list everyone, but I wanted to single out these folks, as all the exciting things we have planned for Inspire wouldn’t happen without their tireless efforts!

While Inspire is front and center at the moment, it’s certainly not the only thing going on!

  • A big thank you to John Nicolau, president of our Chicago chapter, who presented on our Leadership call last week! John and the Chicago chapter have had a great year growing to 50 members!! Rumor has it, John has thrown down a challenge to be one of the biggest chapters in the country by Inspire! Good luck and great job!
  • Congratulations to Jennifer Didier and the team in Arizona for relaunching the chapter and voting in their Board of Directors!! We are so excited for you and with you! Please welcome the new board and offer your support!!
  • “There is life after Quickbooks . . .” On June 6th, the IAMCP will be hosting an online event with Lorie Adolf - Partner Channel Development Manager for Dynamics 365 Financials. Lorie is going to share why the market is ready for this type of solution and the exciting Partner opportunity. Make sure you don’t miss it!
  • Know anyone thinking about joining IAMCP? Have you heard that we’re giving away a free pass to Inspire?! Free as in $0. . . as in over $2,000 savings! What a great way to recruit new members! Any new members who sign up between now and June 11th will be entered into the drawing and the winner will be announced on June 12th! Please help spread the word!
  • Are you aware of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism hearing, “Law Enforcement Access to Data Stored Across Borders: Facilitating Cooperation and Protecting Rights”? This critical hearing was originally canceled and was rescheduled for May 24th. If you’re not familiar, you should talk with your local advocacy chair to get up to speed and consider joining Voices for Innovation! This is an important topic for all of us, as it has the potential to determine the future of Cloud Computing and our privacy rights as both individual citizens and as people providing solutions in the cloud marketplace.

Thanks for being a part of our great community! And thank you for the opportunity to serve alongside you as we help each other Connect, Learn, and Grow!

 Warmly –

Randy Steinle
President – US Board of Directors

Advocacy Chair - Austin Chapter
International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners

IAMCP DFW’s May 25th chapter meeting topic was “The Other Side of the Desk – How CIO’s Buy IT Products & Services.” We invited John Richardson, COO of Rheumatology Associates and the first president of IAMCP Dallas, in for a peer to peer discussion on his insights from the other side of the desk. We asked him what it’s like to be on the receiving end of our attention, what we’re doing well, and what we stink at. John spoke about the good old days of technology marketing & sales, why he’d like to see more storytelling from technology marketers, and how CIO's buy technology. We learned about the buying journey of CIO’s, CFO’s and COO’s. Thanks, John!

PHILADELPHIA - Kevin S. Miller, Chapter President

IAMCP Philadelphia had our monthly meeting downtown at the Microsoft Reactor in the University Science Center. We had 14 attendees, with the following speakers and topics:

  • Steve Tang, President of the Science Center, discussed how the center provides leading-edge technology, meeting and classroom spaces, and a range of community programs designed to promote economic and civic development in the greater Philadelphia area.
  • Jeff Friedman, State and Local Government Solutions Group, spoke to members and non-members around 3 key focus areas:
  1. Tech Readiness - How are customers using technology? Who is using the technology? How are they consuming the technology?
  2. Marketing - How the Reactor is a place to utilize with partners in the city
  3. Sales & Business Development and Partner Focused - Best ways to break into state and local government accounts
  • Amanda Lange, Microsoft Inc. Machine Learning Speaker, previewed how customers’ adoption of the Azure cloud and how their using machine learning is improving policies. Amanda used examples of golf swings and metrics.

ST. LOUIS - Marty OBlack, Chapter President

The St. Louis IAMCP May meeting was all about our chapter members! We had excellent partner presentations by Scott Tenholder with New Horizons Learning in St. Louis and Andrew Kampwerth from Sikich. We’re very excited to have these partners in our chapter! Our special guest, Brandon Dunlap with Condado Group, visited the chapter to observe a typical IAMCP meeting in action and network with our group. Brandon is working to restart an IAMCP chapter in the Kansas City area and St. Louis has offered to help in any way we can. After presentations, we had additional networking time with Danny Cook, Carson Heady and Jo Otey from Microsoft. Many thanks to our Microsoft North Central team for great chapter support!

TAMPA - Jon Rivers, Chapter President

The month of May was heavily focused on networking for the Tampa chapter as we kicked off our inaugural “Speed Networking” event. We had close to 20 partners join the event with the challenge to move around the group and get to know what each other’s companies did and how mutual business could be driven.

For me personally, I thought I knew some of my regular members who have been coming for last couple years. I found out that wasn’t 100% true. Now I know more, so when then appropriate situation arises, I can better recommend them.

What do we have installed for the coming months?

See you all at an upcoming Tampa Chapter Meeting
