IAMCP-US Community –

I am very pleased to announce some exciting changes in leadership on the US board of directors.

It has been my privilege to serve alongside some amazing people over the last year! And I would like to say a special thank you from me personally, and on behalf of the entire IAMCP-US community to Jon Sastre and Ro Kolakowski, our past presidents and Ken Meyer, our vice president. Ken and Ro will continue to serve in roles throughout the community and Jon has been named our new IAMCP-Worldwide president! These three gentlemen are my partners, mentors and friends and I owe a debt of gratitude to each of them!

I’d also like to thank other members of the executive team who I was honored to serve with and we are fortunate to have continuing on in leadership roles in 2018! David Gersten has been our board secretary and is transitioning into our vice president role; and Tom Major has been and will continue to be our treasurer. Both of these positions involve countless hours of work behind the scenes and these two gentlemen have done an incredible job of managing the operations of our board and the community at large. I am indebted to them both for their service, their friendship and their leadership!

I would now officially like to introduce our new leadership team for the IAMCP-US board of directors!

Jeff Goldstein

David Gersten

Vice President

Tom Major

Debra Pfundstein

Congratulations Jeff, David, Tom and Debra!

Jeff and Debra have both served in leadership roles on the IAMCP-US board for many years. Jeff has been the NJ chapter president as well as the sponsorship chair for both the US and international boards. Debra has served as NYC chapter president, East Region chair and Inspire committee chair worldwide. I am honored to serve with them and consider them both friends. I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work helping manage and fund out efforts! They are both strong leaders, passionate about IAMCP and we are very fortunate to have them leading and serving our organization in 2018 and beyond! Congratulations to you both!

These changes are effective immediately, however, the outgoing and incoming executive teams will be working closely together over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition. During this time, I’ll be transitioning into the role of past president and have the opportunity to continue serving with and supporting this great team!

It has truly been an honor to serve as president over the past year! Thank you for your support, your encouraging words and your passion and enthusiasm for our community!

Warmly –

Randy Steinle

ARIZONA - Jennifer Didier, Chapter President

Arizona IAMCP and WIT communities hosted Brent Combest, General Manager, One Commercial Partner - West Region, at the Microsoft Offices in Tempe on January 23.

Topic: Partner Profitability   Thriving in the new digital economy requires channel partners to adapt their approach to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving market. Customer desires have changed and, with that, so have the keys to maximizing profitability. This is top of mind for many partners and a question that’s often asked is; how do I craft my strategy to not only capitalize on this opportunity, but do so in way that increases my bottom line and sets me up well for a cash event should I decide to sell or retire?

During this presentation, Brent shared insights, perspectives and stories of successful partners from around the world. Brent summarized these in four key areas that make up the hyper-successful Modern Partner. The session challenged us to think about how our three- to five-year plans can incorporate these and how we can begin to execute against them in the near term.

CHICAGO - John Nicolau, Chapter President

Great turnout for our first IAMCP/WIT meeting of 2018! We met on Thursday, January 25 at Microsoft’s MTC in Downers Grove. Thanks to Microsoft’s Mike Silver and David O’Bryan for a very valuable presentation on “Dynamics 365 Roadmap in the SMB Space.”  So much interest was generated that we plan to have Mike and David back for an update later this year.

Our next meeting will be at 9:00 am on March 1 at Microsoft’s MTC at the AON Center in the loop. Our topic will be “Azure in the SMB Space,” presented by Microsoft’s Jeff Stoffel.  Details and RSVP link will be available in the near future. For now, please SAVE THE DATE.

ST. LOUIS - Marty OBlack, Chapter President

The St. Louis IAMCP chapter held its January monthly meeting at the CenturyLink Conference Center auditorium in west St. Louis. As part of our mission to help develop both technical and professional skills of our members, Scott Schaffer, writer and noted technology speaker, discussed Blockchain—the technology behind Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Scott explained how Blockchain technologies are not limited to the financial sector but can be utilized to securely handle many types of network transactions wherever they occur. The morning event was a terrific opportunity to network with other members over coffee and make new business connections! Our special thanks to CenturyLink for hosting the meeting.

TAMPA - Jon Rivers, Chapter President

The Tampa chapter finished 2017 solid with a well-attended holiday event. Lots of fun was had by all. We were able to raise funds for the “Rudy Rodriguez STEM Scholarship Program” during the event and the Tampa chapter also chipped in. In the end, we were able to send a check for $350 to the scholarship program.

As we ended 2017 strong, we kicked off 2018 even stronger with one of our largest registered events. The topics for the night were Blockchain and One Commercial Partner by Tracy Crain, National Director, ISV for Microsoft. Of course, on top of that, we enjoyed lots of valuable networking opportunities between members. By the end of the night, everyone’s brains were on overload with all the amazing knowledge they had learned.

It doesn’t stop there… Our Women in Technology (WIT) group put on an amazing event called “Women in Arms - Service, Sacrifice and IT” in January. Their featured guest was Kelly Pigott, who talked about the Air National Guard and her experience in the IT channel. Areas that Kelly touched upon were:

  • A different perspective on hiring veterans
  • Transitioning from military service to the corporate world
  • How the skills learned in the service prepare an individual for corporate life
  • Challenges of work/life balance when your spouse is deployed

You can see we kicked off very strong in 2018. If you weren’t at any of these events, then you’re missing out!

So make sure to register for our next meeting on February 13th at the Microsoft office, where we will talk about “GDPR Compliance and Data Privacy” -- an event you don’t want to miss.

Reminder: Our meeting rhythm is the typically the 2nd Tuesday of the month, 5:30-8:00 pm at the Microsoft offices.

WASHINGTON DC - Frank Valdivieso, Chapter President

Join us at the DC Chapter 2018 Kickoff Cocktail Event on Monday, February 12th from 5pm-8pm for a relaxing evening of food, fun, friends and music at the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center in DC. This year’s event is hosted by Voices for Innovation (VFI). Come learn about policies that affect your clients’ businesses and meet VFI leaders. We have VFI to thank for no admission fee this year!

The event timing is intentionally coordinated with the confluence meetings with the IAMCP-US board and WIT leaders, as well as the VFI Ambassador Fly-In. You’ll have a great opportunity to network with local Microsoft representatives, members from other IAMCP chapters, local Microsoft Stores and special guests.  REGISTER HERE!

Our February 21st monthly meeting will be at the MS Chevy Chase location. Jon Rivers will be presenting “How to Drive Leads with Social Selling” and we will recognize our 2017 IAMCP DC Chapter Partners of the Year Awardees: Sam Cool of Planet Technologies and Nigel Knowles of LCG. Both members are being recognized for passing the most business referrals to their fellow members.  REGISTER HERE!
