December 2018 Newsletter

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Hello IAMCP-US Community,

We recently held our IAMCP International Board of Directors meeting in the Netherlands with representatives from ASIA, Canada, EMEA, LATAM and the United States. The meetings were very productive and there will be several new restructuring announcements that will be announced in January 2019.

During our recent International Board of Directors meeting held in Amsterdam on November 30th thru December 2nd, 2018, the IAMCP International Board of Directors voted to expand our focus on diversity and inclusion and rename our WIT special interest group to Diversity & Inclusion. We appointed a committee chairperson to work on the expanded mission and are looking for representatives in chapters across the IAMCP organization to represent diversity and inclusion. If you want to volunteer and serve on this committee or in your chapter, please contact info@iamcp.org.

My chapter visits continue and most recently I made a surprise visit to Minnesota. The Minneapolis chapter, led by president Jerry Rasmussen, greeted me with a box of donuts and a room full of friendly IAMCP “Viking” members! We were able to share the IAMCP US 2018 goals and objectives with the team from Minneapolis, which included “best practices.”

I want to remind everyone that growing the IAMCP membership is our responsibility, so please help us promote our success stories on the IAMCP website. The IAMCP is excited to announce our Membership December Drive! With our mission centered on delivering networking and business development value to the Microsoft partner ecosystem, we are aggressively growing our US community of more than 800 members, as we extend the value of the IAMCP to new members throughout the US.

For the month of December, new members will receive $20.00 off our annual membership rate and can take advantage of the offer by going to www.iamcp-us.org, and choosing “Join Us” from the top menu, new members can use the promo code NEWMEM1218 and instantly connect to the country’s largest Microsoft partner network.

We are excited to announce our partnership with CompTIA and want to welcome them to our family. Our friends at CompTIA have provided us with a very generous incentive to join their organization.

In addition, we are holding IAMCP-US Board Town Hall meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at 11:30 am Eastern time. These are open to all US board & chapter board members and are unstructured conversations that promote best practice sharing and encourage problem solving. Please join and bring your ideas! Last month we announced our new Virtual Chapter, which is being led by Laura Peters and is designed to support IAMCP members that are not located near a current IAMCP chapter.

Please make sure everyone registers for our new Partner Directory, the “Index.” Every IAMCP member gets a FREE listing in the directory!

In conclusion, I am extremely excited about the progress that we have made in the first nine months of my position. We are progressing very well to make the IAMCP the best Microsoft Partner Organization on the planet!

Sincerely,

President

US Board of Directors

The IAMCP Index represents an opportunity to collaborate with close to 1,000 US Microsoft Partners. Our members make a commitment to meeting in person every 30 days, putting competitive differences aside, and the customer first. In other words, our members are some of the most forward-thinking within the Microsoft ecosystem.

The Index allows for keyword/SEO searches which we can track. As of today, the most searched terms have been; CRM Integration, Office 365, Azure Training and Microsoft Dynamics AX. Likewise, we know which sponsors are searched the most and, to date, those are Comcast and Crossmatch.

How can you gain mindshare and be on the receiving end of specific client opportunities? The answer is the Index. Check it out TODAY!

In a recent survey, it was determined that 78% of Microsoft Partners that were members of the IAMCP found it helped with the growth of their Microsoft practice.

Our chapters typically gather once per month for regular in-person meetings, which include educational presentations, organizational updates, and briefings from Microsoft—as well as opportunities to network with partner peers. Find a chapter near you. If you’re unable to find a local a chapter or unable to make a meeting, then sign up for our Virtual Chapter meetings.

With our mission centered on delivering networking and business development value to the Microsoft partner ecosystem, we are offering all new members* and lapsed members of more than six months a $20 discount off our annual membership of $195. Become a member TODAY by entering the code NEWMEM1218 and reap the benefits.

If you have any questions, please contact us via us.membership@iamcp.org.

* This offer ends on December 31st, 2018, at 11:59 PM PST and is only available to individuals who have not been members before or to previous members with expirations older than six months within the IAMCP US. This offer is only available within the IAMCP US organization.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND THE U.S.?

CLEVELAND - Ray Paganini, Chapter President

IAMCP Cleveland's October event at the Cleveland Microsoft Office started with some great peer-to-peer discussion. Microsoft PDM Kristin Friend then went over current incentives and marketing funds. Microsoft 365 was also reviewed. The meeting was well-attended and we increased our membership by three, possibly more!

DALLAS/FORT WORTH - Joseph Khalaf, Chapter President

Crayon Software hosted the October IAMCP DFW meeting. James Williams provided learning about "Modern Threat Landscape." As security vendors and practices evolve, the threats they encounter evolve as well. Adding to this complex situation are the new technologies and abilities that Azure and Office 365 bring to the marketplace. This session walked through the modern threat landscape and some of the emerging methods that can be used to detect, prevent, and respond to security breaches.

Planning for Holiday Giving
It’s always a big decision how to celebrate the holidays at IAMCP. Last year the DFW chapter partnered with Ronald McDonald House Dallas and Delicious Dishes to make dinner, cover Santa gifts, and help the kids get their photos taken with Santa. Ebbah Tokwe spearheaded last year’s initiative and presented the details at our October meeting. We’ll see what event we will host this year!

ST. LOUIS - Jill Kunkel, Chapter President

The St. Louis Chapter met again at the brand new, state-of-the-art MTC and was welcomed and addressed by the MTC Director, Merrill Schebaum. We used this meeting to discuss the services and resources available to Microsoft Partners and members of the IAMCP for customer and prospecting presentations through both the MTC facilities and the Microsoft Company Store. We had a nice crowd of +20 and discussed the mission of the chapter and benefit of membership as we continue to have many guests and first-time attendees. We had an open discussion around what everyone expects to get out of future meetings and it aligned perfectly with our IAMCP mission:

  1. Partner-to-Partner and networking opportunities
  2. Deeper engagement with Microsoft
  3. Community support through events, STEM initiatives and advocacy

TAMPA - Jon Rivers, Chapter President

The Tampa chapter wrapped up another successful meeting in October where the topic of the month was Social Selling. The group was very engaged and pumped up to go back and start implementing the tips they learned.

We presented our first award to Curtis McCallister - Manager of Technology Solutions at James Moore - who is so committed to the IAMCP and the Tampa chapter that he drives two hours each way from Gainesville to attend the meetings. So we gave him the “Most Committed Member of the Quarter" award.

Also, we thought we would try something new by implementing the “Microsoft Employee Spotlight” section of our meeting. Our first Microsoft employee was Kevin Radigan, Educational Account Executive. Kevin gave a great overview of what he does and how we can assist him. During his presentation, we learned some interesting facts about the education section. Click to read more.

Lots of great events are coming up, so make sure to stay up-to-date on the happenings of the Tampa chapter by booking marking their homepage.
