Letter from the President

IAMCP Community –

Wow – what an amazing week in DC at Inspire! IAMCP was incredibly well-represented, because our entire community came together and stepped up!

Here are a few pictures from IAMCP events throughout the week:

We had a great US board meeting Friday night, all day Saturday and Sunday morning! Here’s the US board and our guests from the International board at our dinner Saturday night - what an amazing crew!

Sunday night, IAMCP-US hosted the second annual Speakeasy event – which exceeded expectations with over 540 people in attendance!! What a fantastic way to kick off the week!

We were also fortunate to partner with VFI and Armor to host our Executive Roundtables again with some incredible speakers! Thanks to Rudy Rodriguez for putting together this all-star lineup!
  • Brad Smith - President and Chief Legal Officer at Microsoft
  • Gavriella Schuster - Corporate Vice President, Global Partner Channels and Programs at Microsoft
  • Toby Richards - General Manager, Partner Programs at Microsoft
  • Mandana Javaheri - Director of Cybersecurity Alliances at Microsoft
  • Chris Weber - Corporate Vice President of WW EPG and SMS&P at Microsoft
  • Didier Ongena - General Manager, Sales and Marketing Western Europe at Microsoft
  • Jeffery Schilling - Chief Security Officer at Armor Defense

Tuesday night, we hosted the annual Prometheus Awards, which the IAMCP hosts each year to recognize Microsoft employees that go the extra mile and make a real impact on our members’ businesses. This year, the IAMCP-US honored Sherman Crancer for his partnership and support of the partners in the western region and the IAMCP as a whole. Congratulations and thank you Sherman!

At the end of the Prometheus Awards ceremony, we had a very special presentation to announce the “Rudy Rodriguez/IAMCP STEM Scholarship Fund!” This scholarship fund was established to provide IAMCP members and their families with an opportunity to apply for assistance funding their studies in STEM education. Rudy is passionate about providing access to STEM education for all. He also has served the IAMCP community tirelessly and selflessly for many years. I can’t think of a person more deserving of this honor. Please congratulate Rudy and thank him for his many years of service. And if you are able, please donate what you can to help.

Now, more than ever, I’m honored and humbled at the opportunity to serve our great community alongside each of you!

Warmly -

Randy Steinle
President – US Board of Directors

This will be a fun evening of networking with drinks, hors d'oeuvres, giveaways, information, presentations and entertainment.

Atlanta IAMCP Chapter Update

The chapter continues to grow and the new board is officially in place. There have been meetings with the new board to address recruitment, sponsorship and philanthropy, and a marketing campaign is being developed for the Atlanta chapter to execute in Georgia over the next six months. We are proud that our growth is running at a 93% increase and we plan to build on this.

One of the key initiatives of the Atlanta IAMCP chapter is building a portfolio of the members profiles for presentation to prospects, customers and Microsoft. The idea is to present the collective value of the IAMCP and WIT, so the company or individual we are speaking to sees the combined capabilities and experience in the Microsoft ecosystem of the Atlanta chapter and its members. Or, as Satya Nadella says, delivering on the the Entire Digital Estate. The portfolio format for members’ companies is:

  1. Company Name:
  2. Territories Served: (example - Atlanta Area, Georgia, Southeast, US, North America, other countries)
  3. Focus Industries: (example – manufacturing, healthcare, etc.)
  4. Focus Market Segment: (example – SMB, Small Enterprise, Large Enterprise)
  5. Microsoft Solutions/Technologies Selling: (example – Dynamics AX, Dynamics CRM, Office 365, SharePoint, Azure, SQL etc.)
  6. Microsoft License Revenue Generated by Solution/Technology (last 3 years): (example – Dynamics AX - $500K, Dynamics CRM - $290K, Office 365 - $120K, etc.)
  7. Number of Microsoft Customers Served: (example – 75)
  8. Have You Developed Your Own Product or IP for Resale and Which Microsoft Technology Does It Enhance? (example – ServicePoint365 (SharePoint Online Application))
  9. What Type of Partnership Opportunities Are You Looking For? (example – resellers for our SharePoint application, partner to do CRM implementations, partners that need channel management assistance, etc.)

New Atlanta IAMCP WIT Chapter Launched

I am pleased to announce that the Atlanta IAMCP has created and launched the first Atlanta WIT chapter. We have been busy plotting, planning and executing some exciting events in conjunction with IAMCP! We have a fantastic board and have a lot of ideas brewing!!  One of these future events is participation in "Run Like a Girl" 5k or 1 mile on October 1st in Dunwoody Georgia. The IAMCP WIT group will provide invitees participating in a walking event with WIT team t-shirts. We will be raising money to support Girls Inc. We are also going to be coordinating events and meetings with the Georgia Women in Technology organization established in 1992.

AUSTIN - Lacy Finley, Chapter President

The Austin-IAMCP had a great showing at the 2017 Microsoft Inspire conference. From the Austin chapter, we had five seasoned partners attend - Davin Cooke, Lacy Finley, Eric Lambiase, Rudy Rodriguez and Randy Steinle. We were also happy to have a first-timer with us - Chuck Coburn.

Our veteran members were involved in many aspects of Inspire: IAMCP board meetings, Speakeasy partner party, Executive Roundtables, VFI, Hour of Code, WIT, and several speaking engagements. One of the biggest highlights of the week was the surprise Rudy Rodriguez received from the IAMCP US board. The board announced the creation of the Rudy Rodriguez STEM Scholarship. “I was deeply humbled and honored by the IAMCP US board this past week at Microsoft Inspire in Washington, D.C. I could not have been more proud or more emotional to receive this great honor. I want to thank the board of IAMCP US for bestowing this bit of association history on me,” commented Rudy.

The Austin-IAMCP is very proud of all our members’ success at Inspire! We look forward to bringing our new-found knowledge and inspiration back home with us to share with our members.

CHICAGO - John Nicolau, Chapter President

Due to Inspire and the craziness of August, the Chicagoland IAMCP/WIT chapter does not meet again until September. Our September meeting is scheduled to have Brent Combest, Microsoft General Manager, Central Region SMB, on the topic of partner profitability, hopefully presenting in person. Here are a few photos from the Inspire IAMCP/VFI roundtables with Brad Smith and Gavriella Schuster.
