IAMCP-US Community – 

Have you attended SMB Live yet? I just did in Austin, TX, and it was fantastic! It was packed with great information that we are already implementing in our business! In the past few weeks, there have been packed events across the country in California, Minnesota, Texas, Indiana, New York and there are more to come! What a fantastic event for IAMCP to be involved in! Thank you, David Cunningham and Microsoft, for allowing us this great opportunity!

Speaking of SMB – Have you seen the March issue of US SMB Partner Insider Monthly? Congratulations to our very own Jon Sastre – former president of the IAMCP-US board and current vice president of the IAMCP-Worldwide board! While we’re on the SMB theme – did you know that National Small Business Week (NSBW) is April 30 – May 6th? Microsoft is a big supporter and will be hosting a number of events that you can take advantage of! Microsoft will be hosting a 4-part webinar series about NSBW starting March 30th, so make sure to check it out and get involved!

Can you believe that Inspire is just over 3 months away? Make sure you register early, as last year was a sold-out show – and what a show it was! IAMCP will be there front and center in the Community Hub, at the Welcome Desk, at a “Hot Topics” booth and more! Did you make it to the IAMCP party last year? Shhhh . . . don’t tell anyone, but I have it from a trustworthy source that this year’s event will be even bigger and better! I hope to see you all there!

IAMCP US Membership Chair

The IAMCP (International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners) US chapter is announcing an update to the membership renewal process with the installation of an auto-renewal process allowing members to renew their membership automatically. This will eliminate one extra task from your busy schedule. As the organization continues to transform to meet the needs of members and adapt to the Microsoft Partner Network, we will continue to innovate, add value and grow membership. 

Once the auto-renewal process is activated as of April 1, 2017, you will have the option to turn it off by following instructions below. If you have questions or comments, please contact IAMCP US Membership Committee.

Step 1: Navigate to Manage Profile
Navigate to Manage Profile area upon logging in, and click on the "Membership" section highlighted in yellow below under the "Invoicing, Payments & History" header.


Step 2: Click on the red X to cancel auto-billing and save.



What's Happening Around the US?



CHICAGO - John Nicolau, Chapter President


We had a great turnout and solid presentation at our March IAMCP/WIT meeting, “Microsoft Azure IoT and Power BI/Streaming Analytics,” hosted by IAMCP member DMC. We learned about Microsoft’s Azure Platform Services and the Internet of Things (IoT). Talk about eye-opening ideas!


Our April meeting will be “How to Build Solution Offerings and Grow Your Business with the Microsoft Cloud Platform,” hosted at Microsoft’s loop offices in the Aon Center on Wednesday, April 19th, from 4–6 pm. Please save the date!

CIE Facilitators Boot Camp in Chicago will be held June 13–16. If a partner is interested in sending a staff member to a CIE Facilitator Boot Camp and you would like them to apply for a $500 discount code, please reach out to Wendy Harrison, the SMB CIE program manager. Wendy will provide you with the short three-question application. She will also answer any questions you have about the SMB CIE program.


DALLAS/FORT WORTH - Rudy Rodriguez, Chapter President


For IAMCP DFW’s March meeting, we had lunch and a lively presentation and discussion on Best Practices for Partnering! Partnering through the IAMCP lets you offer additional areas of technical expertise, plus added manpower for bigger projects. All this means more value for clients. To ensure a smooth working relationship, we suggest an honest open discussion between partners prior to engaging with the client. While it makes sense to work on potential partnerships long before a project starts, we find that a “real deal” usually kicks off the partnership. It’s easier to come to agreement about a specific project, rather than talking about generalities. Partnering is a two-way-street, and each party needs to think about the other one when they meet their customers. This is the real key to successful partnering. Our discussion included:


  • Relationship with the client - Is this yours? Mine? or Ours?
  • How will we describe our relationship to the Client?
  • Legal Issues - What types of agreements need to be in place?
  • Who is the Client?
  • Communications with the Client- "One Throat to Choke"
  • Payment Issues
  • Enhancing the relationship


TAMPA - Jon Rivers, Chapter President


The last couple of months of meetings have been all around the hot topic of the Cloud for the Tampa chapter. We started in February with a cloud administrator from an end-user talking about their experience of moving their whole organization to the Cloud to a presentation from Microsoft on Azure in March.

For April, we are moving on to another hot topic that is getting a lot of attention at various IAMCP chapters: Ransomware. Make sure to join us on Tuesday, April 11, at 5:30 pm by registering here.

Not stopping there, we will also support SMB Live H2 when it comes to Tampa on April 4th & 5th with a “SMB Live Power Networking & Business Builder Happy Hour” on the first day of the SMB event. Be sure to join us! Click to let us know you’re attending.

And lastly, we’re working on the agendas for our May, June and July meetings. Make sure you’re signed up to attend!


WASHINGTON, D.C. - Frank Valdiveso, Chapter President


The DC chapter’s March 15 meeting was the most highly-attended in recent months with around 31 people!



We would like to thank our SMB Live Happy Hour sponsor, Steve Jacob with Enghouse Interactive! It was well-attended, with approximately 32 people. We also had a raffle for a drone - congratulations to Peter Kolovos with Ascendra, Inc.



We collected contact information from 33 attendees, with 27 of them being prospects for membership. Our chapter president received verbal assurances from six attendees that they plan to attend our April chapter meeting.

Our April 19 chapter meeting at MS Chevy Chase will cover:

  • Skype for Business (SKYPE4B) Voice Crash Course: Clark Currier with CallTower
  • Understanding Investment Risk in Uncertain Times: Christopher Oxenham, with Oxenham Financial
  • Partner Spotlight Series: We are featuring four of our chapter members as determined by business card drawing at March meeting. They will provide a brief overview of their respective companies and discuss potential teaming opportunities.
