CHICAGO - John Nicolau, Chapter President

Our September chapter meeting was held on Monday, September 18, at the Microsoft Offices in downtown Chicago. Brent Combest, Microsoft’s General Manager, West Region One Commercial Partner, presented on the topic of Partner Profitability. He discussed that thriving in the new digital economy requires channel partners to adapt their approach to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving market. Customer desires have changed and, with that, so have the keys to maximizing profitability. This is top of mind for many partners and a question that’s often asked is, "How do I craft my strategy to not only capitalize on this opportunity, but do so in way that increases my bottom line and sets me up well for a cash event should I decide to sell or retire?"

During his presentation, Brent shared insights, perspectives, and stories of successful partners from around the world. Brent also summarized these in four key areas that make up the hyper-successful Modern Partner. The session challenged partners to think about how our three- to five-year plans can incorporate these and how partners can begin to execute against them in the near term.

Chicagoland WIT presented a very special event, “Overcoming Adversity and Keeping a Positive Attitude,” on Tuesday, September 26th at the Kate Spade store on Michigan Avenue.

On Thursday, October 19th, IAMCP member Logan Consulting will present – “Dynamics 365 in the SMB Space.”  Attend this event to learn more about Microsoft Dynamics 365 and all it has to offer to your SMB clients. Microsoft has greatly increased these offerings and enhanced the functionality of Microsoft Dynamics 365. By attending, you will learn:

  • What Dynamics 365 offers
  •  How your clients could benefit from a Dynamics 365 solution
  •  How partners can drive opportunities amongst our clients and enhance the adoption of Microsoft technologies
  •  Integration among Dynamics 365 components and Office 365
  •  How Dynamics 365 fits-in with Microsoft’s other ERP and CRM solutions

NORCAL - Leo Bakerian, Chapter President

IAMCP NorCal Heads to the Ball Park!

On Tuesday, September 26th, IAMCP NorCal took a break from Microsoft topics to take in a ball game! Several members headed to a luxury box (graciously donated by NorCal member LearnIT!) at the Coliseum where we watched the Oakland A’s battle the Seattle Mariners.

We enjoyed some ballpark fare and beer while we watched the Mariners and A’s smack the ball around the yard. At one point, a ball was hit directly toward our box. The A’s outfielder caught the ball and crashed into the outfield fence below us; it was quite a catch! The A’s started the scoring with a leadoff home run, but Seattle came back with a bases-clearing jack of their own. The homer fest continued, with Seattle eventually securing a 6-3 victory.

Despite the loss, NorCal members had a good time enjoying the fall weather, chatting about business challenges and opportunities, and watching some ball. If you missed it, you missed out!

PHILADELPHIA - Ryan Carillo, Chapter President

IAMCP Philadephia’s September meeting was held at our local New Horizons location due to current construction at the local Microsoft office. We had 12 people attend this meeting with three different speakers covering the following topics:

  1. IAMCP Updates and Benefits of Joining the Organization - Kevin S. Miller, Blue Edge Consulting
  2. 50 Takeaways from Microsoft Inspire - Scott Bekker, Redmond Channel Partner Magazine
  3. Surround365 Managed Services - Dennis Hyland, Binary Tree

SOCAL - Eric Klauss, Chapter President

IAMCP SoCal got the month of September kicked off with a fantastic meeting at the Microsoft Playa Vista offices where we had about 60 folks attending. We were able to share a message from our IAMCP-US President Randy Steinle about IAMCP-US efforts for disaster relief for members dealing with the aftermath of hurricanes and fires across the US.

Michelle Hollis, our IAMCP-SoCal Chapter Treasurer, shared a heartfelt story about being at Inspire and the announcement of our new IAMCP Rudy Rodriguez Scholarship program.

Additionally this month, IAMCP-SoCal held another of our quarterly mixer events. We shared beer and tacos at Strand Brewing and had some great networking and relationship-building going on!

ST. LOUIS - Marty OBlack, Chapter President

The St. Louis IAMCP chapter held its monthly meeting on September 13th in beautiful conference space at Enterprise Bank & Trust. As part of our mission to help develop the business and professional skills of our members, this month we joined Patti Harty of Stark and Associates for a presentation on creating successful business relationships by effectively communicating, influencing and motivating others. The ability to effectively communicate, influence and motivate others is critical to creating successful partner to partner business relationships. Patti knocked it out of the park with her presentation titled “Leading & Communicating with Style!” The morning event was also a great opportunity to network with other members over coffee and make new business contacts!

WASHINGTON DC -  Frank Valdivieso, Chapter President

Our August meeting with Stephen Deming, Senior Microsoft Partner Technical Strategist, US One Commercial Partner Technical Team, discussing O365 was a huge hit with about 30 attendees! Jonathan Friebert with VFI joined us as guest attendee!

We are tracking our P2P Activity and announcing it at each meeting. It really builds momentum!

On September 20, we met at Microsoft Chevy Chase, MD, and welcomed The ASCII Group, a vibrant reseller community of independent MSPs, VARs, and other solution providers. Also, we had a second presentation on Dynamics 365. It was a BIG hit, so we are considering offering a Dynamics 365 Series.

JOIN US! On October 18, we are meeting in DC at the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center. We’ll discuss important topics in Technology Advocacy and how to get involved. Our speakers will be:

  • Ryan Risley with special guest Mike McMahon, who currently serves as Senior Director of U.S. Government Affairs for Microsoft in Washington, D.C. In this role, McMahon specializes in working with Microsoft’s technology partners, industry trade groups, think tanks and other NGOs on a wide range of issues that are important to Microsoft and the technology industry.
  • Aja Hill, Partner Development Manager, who is responsible for a set of channel partners focused on selling Microsoft solutions and services to customers. The goal of this role is to encourage differentiation within the partner base and assist the partner in growing their Microsoft practice year over year.

We would like to invite ALL IAMCP members, non-members and Microsoft employees to attend our Inaugural IAMCP-DC Golf Tournament on Monday, 10/30/17 at the Country Club at Woodmore in MD.  Go here for information and to register!
